The problem faced

Stanford Resourcing is the market-leading financial services-focused legal and compliance search firm.

Stanford operates across multiple international regions, adopting a practice-specific business model and international platform, ensuring their consultants deliver trusted advice and best-in-class candidates to their client base.

Stanford’s current telephony arrangement reached the renewal stage.  Performance analysis showed the system to be unreliable and comparatively expensive on a per user basis compared to other viable options.

The Solution

Two key selection criteria were considered; firstly, performance to ensure business delivery, and secondly, cost.

Penntech migrated from Stanford’s current provider to Microsoft Teams utilising Direct Routing to allow them to make and receive external phone calls on any devices using the already established Teams application.

Configuration steps involved:

  • Registering and validating the FQDN of the SBC as a Domain in Office 365
  • Adding a test user & assigning appropriate licensing
  • Creating a PSTN Usage Record
  • Adding the SBC to Teams
  • Creating and assigning a Voice Routing Policy and a Voice Route
  • Rolling out

The outcome

Migrating to Microsoft Teams allowed Stanford to consolidate their applications and reduce its overall security footprint.

By utilising direct routing within Microsoft Teams, Penntech could utilise concurrent calling limitations rather than per user resulting in a significant reduction in the per-user monthly cost.

The addition of high availability provides resilience to the line, and direct SIP breakouts enable the best call quality for international dialling.

Benefits realised

  • Application consolidation to reduce the overall security footprint
  • Concurrent calling limitations reduce costs
  • Best call quality for international dialling
  • No interruption to business as usual
