NHS Trust MECM Assistance

Penntech configured Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Managed MECM to ensure accurate reporting and simplification of day-to-day IT tasks.

Cloud Migration

The problem faced

An NHS Trust possessed the necessary licensing for Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) but needed more internal expertise to be able clear out a large number of devices that were not reporting correctly.

With proper configuration, they could easily identify which devices were not reporting into the system and which devices were not up to date.

The Trust needed a solution that would help simplify their day-to-day tasks and also strengthening their internal IT team with MECM knowledge.

Solution

To address some of these issues that the trust face the following was implemented.

  1. Device tidy up
A device review was undertaken to identify which devices were not reporting in correctly to the management system.
A device collection created to identify any non-client devices.
Discovery methods were changed to only allow devices that were needed into the management system.
This allowed the trust to easily identify which machines had issues and allowed them to pinpoint the issues more closely.
  2. Configuration changes
Extra configuration was implemented on the MECM system to allow devices from other locations to report into the console
  3. Staff training / transfer of knowledge
Calls were had with the trust to strengthen the trusts knowledge of issues and how to identify issues on devices that did have issues on the device.
A plan was put together for the trust on how they can tackle common issues.
